Muskox calving begins by the end of April and continues till the end of May. Muskoxen do not, like caribou, calve in large groups in specific areas. In Angujaartorfiup Nunaa in WestGreenland most muskoxen are found in the area near the ice cap during calving, while most muskoxen in Jameson Land are found in the northwestern part east of Schuchert Dal during calving. The knowledge of muskox concentration during calving in other parts of Greenland is, however, very limited.
The calving ranges are included in our database of areas important for wildlife.
