Rules for field work and reporting regarding mineral resources in Greenland

Mineral exploration in Greenland is subject to regulations from a set of rules that aims to protect the fauna, flora and terrain of the Greenlandic environment.

These rules were prepared in accordance with § 54 in the Mineral Resources Act by the Greenland Mineral Mineral Authority in co-operation with Greenland Institute of Natural Resources og our department.

The rules can be obtained through this website:  https://govmin.gl/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Rules_for_Fieldwork_and_Reporting_regarding_Mineral_Resources.pdf    .

The rules are supplemented by a web map service on NunaGIS, which allows the user to pan over Greenland and for a wide range of species see which areas are considered important to wildlife. Areas protected by nature conservation are shown too.
