C-NBS works within the definition of the IUCN adopted by the UN at COP15 for biodiversity in Montreal (Kunming-Montreal agreement) and the most recent climate conference COP29 (Baku, Azerbaijan).
Nature-based solutions (NBS) are initiatives that protect, restore or sustainably manage ecosystems to address societal challenges like climate changes, water management and biodiversity loss. They leverage nature’s processes to benefit both human well-being and biodiversity.
In other words, NBS use the tools of nature to improve the well-being of both nature and humans.
In short: With nature, for nature and humans.
