I am currently a PhD student in the Climatic Stress group at Aarhus University. Meanwhile, I am also working on a EU-funded project called CHRONIC as an Early Stage Researcher within the Marie Curie Initial Training Network.
During my PhD study, I will focus on the interaction between climatic change and low-dose toxicants in the long-term using a typical soil invertebrate Folsomia candida. The main hypothesis of the research is that chronic exposure to low levels of contaminants provokes protective reactions at the molecular level, which provide protection against other type of stressor such as climatic stress, as we call the synergistic effect. The study will assess the effects of these stressors from the aspects of growth performance, reproduction, behavior and life history. Furthermore, I will try to elucidate the underlying molecular mechanism using transcriptomic analysis. For the first step of the research, I am currently working on the shifts of thermal performance curve at different levels of copper contaminations on springtails from three regions with different latitudes.
